Cornerstores, 2012
In most of my pursuits, I am interested in the nostalgic; processes, mediums, places and moments. Cornerstores, 2012, explores the cornerstore as an object of familiarity and a reference of a moment in time. This collection of photographs is from neighbourhoods in Calgary & Vancouver.
When extracted from their existing environment they become newly invented objects, inviting the viewer to contemplate their personal relationship with a space that is a familiar yet invisible part of their daily routine. The cornerstore yearns to exist as neighbourhoods evolve. They are quiet yet impactful in their presence.
All photographs made using Kodak Portra 400 on a Hasselblad 500CM.
